Colombo Penalty Completes Genoa Fightback at Pisa in Serie A

Genoa CFC came from behind to claim a 2–1 away victory over AC Pisa 1909 on Serie A matchday 33, with Lorenzo Colombo’s second-half penalty proving decisive.

The hosts struck first in the 19th minute. Defender Simone Canestrelli put Pisa in front, finishing a move created by Samuele Angori, whose assist opened up the Genoa back line. That early breakthrough gave Pisa the advantage for much of the first half.

Genoa responded four minutes before the interval. Jeff Ekhator levelled the score in the 41st minute, converting after good work from Tommaso Baldanzi, who provided the assist to send the sides into half-time locked at 1–1.

The turnaround was completed ten minutes into the second half. Genoa were awarded a penalty in the 55th minute, and Colombo stepped up to convert from the spot, putting the visitors 2–1 ahead. No further goals followed, despite a series of substitutions from both benches as Pisa chased an equaliser and Genoa sought to preserve their lead.

Pisa’s frustration was reflected in the bookings, with Arturo Calabresi cautioned in the 32nd minute, followed by second-half yellow cards for Michel Aebischer and Antonio Caracciolo. Genoa’s Leo Østigård also received a yellow card midway through the second period.

Pisa introduced Henrik Meister, Juan Cuadrado, Isak Vural, Gabriele Piccinini and Rafiu Durosinmi after the break in search of a response, while Genoa turned to Jean Onana, Junior Messias, Vitinha, Caleb Ekuban and Sebastian Otoa to manage the game and protect their advantage.

Aside from the documented goals, bookings and substitutions, more detailed match statistics and events were not available at the time of writing.
