Nottingham Forest manager Vitor Pereira has admitted the club may find it difficult to keep Elliot Anderson this summer after another impressive performance against Manchester United.

The 23-year-old midfielder has become one of Forest’s standout players this season and is reportedly attracting interest from both Manchester United and Manchester City.

Anderson caught the eye again during Forest’s 3-2 defeat at Old Trafford, providing assists for Morato and Morgan Gibbs-White. His performance only added to the growing attention around his future.

Asked whether Forest could lose Anderson in the summer window, Pereira admitted there are no guarantees.

“I don’t have the answers. The market is the market and everything can happen,” Pereira told reporters.

“What I can say to you is that the club wants to keep him playing for us, for sure. The club wants to keep almost all the players because this is a very good group with quality and character and we have a very good base for next season.”

Forest are keen to keep Anderson and have reportedly placed a £100 million valuation on the former Newcastle midfielder in an effort to discourage potential buyers.

However, interest from United and City could still test their resolve. Manchester United are said to view Anderson as a key summer target, while Manchester City have also been monitoring his progress for several months.

Pereira was full of praise for the England international, describing him as a player with the potential to reach the highest level.

“He has the talent to be one of the top, top of the top,” Pereira said.

The Forest boss believes Anderson can still add more goals to his game and take greater risks in attacking areas, but he also stressed the importance of tactical discipline in a midfield two.

“He’s young and he will fly with big wings,” Pereira added.

For Forest, Anderson is exactly the kind of player they want to build around. But with two Premier League giants watching closely, keeping him at the City Ground could become one of their biggest challenges of the summer.
