Borussia Dortmund have intensified their interest in Real Madrid forward Gonzalo Garcia as they look to strengthen their attack for next season.

According to Sport1, Dortmund sporting director Ole Book has identified the 22-year-old as one of the club’s top targets for the summer window. BVB have already held talks with Garcia’s representatives and are trying to convince him that Signal Iduna Park is the right place for the next stage of his development.

Garcia is said to be open to the idea of joining Dortmund, with the Bundesliga viewed as a strong environment for young attacking players to grow. His recent performances in La Liga have increased interest in his future, but Real Madrid’s asking price remains a major obstacle.

The Spanish giants value Garcia at around €60 million, a figure that is currently too high for Dortmund. The forward is under contract at the Santiago Bernabeu until 2030, giving Madrid a strong negotiating position.

While BVB admire Garcia’s potential, they are reluctant to break their transfer record for a player still developing at the top level. Unless Dortmund raise funds through sales, a straight permanent deal at Madrid’s current valuation appears unlikely.

As a result, alternative transfer structures are being discussed. One option would be a season-long loan, allowing Garcia to gain regular minutes in Germany while Real Madrid keep control of his long-term future.

Another possibility would involve a permanent transfer for a reduced upfront fee of around €20m. In that case, Madrid would want a buy-back clause of about €35m and a 50 percent sell-on clause, giving them a route to bring Garcia back or profit from a future move.

For Dortmund, Garcia fits the profile they often target: young, technically gifted and ready for a bigger role. But unless Real Madrid soften their stance, BVB may need creativity and patience to turn their dream transfer into reality.
