Late Yokota Strike Seals Big Away Win for Hannover 96 at Karlsruhe

Hannover 96 claimed an important 3–1 away win over Karlsruher SC on Matchday 31 of the 2. Bundesliga on 25 April 2026, pulling clear in the second half after a tightly contested opening period.

The visitors struck first on 18 minutes. Mustapha Bundu finished off a move created by Waniss Taibi, giving Hannover an early 1–0 lead and putting the hosts immediately under pressure.

Karlsruhe, however, recovered before the break. In the 44th minute, Fabian Schleusener levelled the score at 1–1, converting from a pass by David Herold to send the teams into half-time on equal terms.

Hannover head coach turned to his bench at the interval, introducing Husseyn Chakroun and Kolja Oudenne at the start of the second half. Further changes on the hour brought Daisuke Yokota into the game, and the substitutions proved decisive.

With eight minutes of normal time remaining, Oudenne put Hannover back in front. The substitute found the net in the 82nd minute, assisted by Yokota, to restore the visitors’ advantage at 2–1.

Deep into stoppage time, Hannover secured the points from the penalty spot. In the 90th minute plus 10, Yokota converted a penalty to make it 3–1, with Oudenne credited with the assist, capping a highly effective cameo from the pair off the bench.

The match also featured yellow cards for Ime Okon of Hannover in the 54th minute and Marvin Wanitzek of Karlsruhe in the 90th minute. Karlsruhe made multiple second-half substitutions in search of an equaliser, but were ultimately undone by Hannover’s late surge.

Beyond the goals, bookings, and substitutions, detailed statistical information and full line-ups were not available at the time of writing.
