Cozier-Duberry Brace Inspires Bolton’s 5–1 Rout of 10-Man Stevenage

Bolton Wanderers produced a dominant attacking display to beat Stevenage 5–1 in League One matchday 40, with Amario Cozier-Duberry scoring twice and the hosts ruthlessly exploiting a first-half dismissal.

The hosts struck early on 13 minutes when Amario Cozier-Duberry opened the scoring, finishing a move created down the right by Jordi Osei-Tutu. Bolton doubled their advantage in the 30th minute, as Johnny Kenny made it 2–0 after being set up by Thierry Gale, putting the home side firmly in control.

Stevenage’s evening worsened three minutes before the break. Daniel Phillips was sent off in the 42nd minute, leaving the visitors to play the remainder of the match with 10 men.

Bolton came out strongly after half-time and quickly added a third. In the 49th minute, Cozier-Duberry grabbed his second of the night, this time assisted by Sam Dalby, to stretch the lead to 3–0.

Stevenage briefly threatened a comeback when Daniel Kemp pulled a goal back in the 64th minute, finishing from a pass by substitute Jordan Houghton. Any hopes of a turnaround were short-lived, however. Just three minutes later, Ruben Rodrigues restored Bolton’s three-goal cushion, making it 4–1 after being teed up by Mason Burstow.

Burstow then got on the scoresheet himself in the 81st minute, striking unassisted to round off a comprehensive 5–1 victory for Bolton.

Both managers made a series of substitutions as the game wore on, with Burstow and Robert Apter among those introduced for Bolton, while Stevenage turned to Saxon Earley, Matt Phillips, Bez Lubala, Houghton and Phoenix Patterson from the bench. Earley was later booked in the 90th minute, adding to Stevenage’s disciplinary woes.
