Barcelona have confirmed that Hansi Flick has signed a new contract that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2028.

The German manager’s previous deal was due to run until 2027, but the Catalan giants have now extended his stay by another year. The agreement is also expected to include an option for a further 12-month extension, which could keep Flick at the club until 2029.

“FC Barcelona and Hansi Flick have reached an agreement to renew his contract, which will link him to the Club until June 30, 2028 plus an optional year,” the club said in an official statement.

Flick arrived at Barcelona in the summer of 2024 as Xavi Hernandez’s successor and has quickly become one of the most important figures in the club’s recent rebuild.

In his first two years in charge, the former Bayern Munich and Germany boss has delivered five trophies, including back-to-back La Liga titles. Just as importantly, he has restored belief with an attacking style of football that fits Barcelona’s identity.

Flick has also earned praise for trusting the club’s young players and giving La Masia talents a clear route into the first team. That approach has helped him build a strong connection with supporters, while his squad management has made him a respected figure inside the dressing room.

For Barcelona, the renewal is a major statement of stability. After years of uncertainty around the club, Flick’s extended deal gives the team a clear leader for the next phase of its project.

With trophies already secured and the fans firmly behind him, Flick will now continue his work at Camp Nou until at least 2028.
