Rossi Rescues Late Point for Columbus Crew Against Orlando City
Diego Rossi struck late to ensure Columbus Crew SC claimed a 1–1 home draw against Orlando City SC in MLS regular-season play on Matchday 7, after the visitors had led for more than an hour.
Orlando made the brighter start and were rewarded in the 14th minute. Marco Pašalić put the visitors in front, finishing a move created by Tiago, whose assist helped Orlando seize early control. The goal gave Orlando a 1–0 advantage that they would protect deep into the second half.
The first half also saw rising Orlando defender Iago go into the book in the 41st minute, followed just two minutes later by teammate David Brekalo, as the visitors committed to a combative approach to preserve their lead.
Columbus were forced into an early change in the 35th minute, with Taha Habroune coming on for Wessam Abou Ali. Further attacking adjustments followed after the interval, with Jamal Thiaré and Hugo Picard introduced on 61 minutes as the Crew pushed for a route back into the match.
The breakthrough finally arrived in the 80th minute. Habroune, involved since the first half, turned provider as he set up Rossi to level the score at 1–1, ending Orlando’s hopes of a clean sheet and shifting the momentum towards the hosts.
The closing stages were tense, with Orlando substitutes and defenders increasingly involved. Adrián Marín was booked in the 82nd minute, before Pašalić received a yellow card in the 86th as Orlando tried to stem Columbus pressure. The Crew also introduced Sekou Bangoura and Dániel Gazdag in the 83rd minute to chase a winner, but neither side could find a decisive second goal.
The draw leaves both clubs sharing the points in the early stages of the MLS season. Beyond the confirmed goals, bookings and substitutions, detailed match statistics and further events were not available at the time of writing.
