Herrera Strike Lifts Houston Dynamo to Narrow Win at Orlando

Houston Dynamo edged Orlando City SC 1–0 on Saturday, with captain Héctor Herrera providing the decisive moment in the second half of their MLS regular-season clash on matchday 8.

The contest in Orlando remained tight for over an hour, with neither side able to find a breakthrough before the interval. Both midfields competed intensely, reflected in early bookings for Eduard Atuesta of Orlando in the 18th minute and Felipe of Houston ten minutes later.

Houston were forced into a change at half-time, as Jimmy Maurer replaced Jonathan Bond in goal at the start of the second period. The visitors then refreshed their outfield options on 63 minutes, bringing on Artur for Diadié Samassékou and Sam Vines for Franco Negri.

The turning point arrived in the 75th minute, when Herrera struck to put Houston 1–0 up. The Mexican midfielder’s goal was the only one of the night and ultimately separated the teams, with the scoreline holding until the final whistle.

Maurer received a yellow card in the 78th minute, while late substitutions saw Orlando introduce Justin Ellis for Tyrese Spicer on 58 minutes and Harvey Sarajian for Zakaria Taifi on 80 minutes. Houston, protecting their lead, withdrew Herrera on 80 minutes in favor of Agustín Bouzat.

Braian Ojeda collected a late booking for Orlando in the 90th minute as the hosts chased an equaliser that never came. Detailed statistics such as possession, shots, and chances created were not available at the time of writing.

The result gives Houston Dynamo a valuable away win in MLS play, while Orlando City are left to regroup after a home defeat. For more on the MLS season, visit the Ballaxy MLS hub, or see the full match page here.
