PSG frustration grows as Lorient capitalise on defensive lapses in draw

Paris Saint-Germain were held to a frustrating 2-2 draw by Lorient at the Parc des Princes, despite dominating the match for long periods.

The hosts made a strong start and opened the scoring in the 6th minute when Ibrahim Mbaye found the net, giving PSG an early advantage. However, Lorient responded almost immediately, with Pagis equalising in the 12th minute after a well-worked move assisted by Katseris.

PSG controlled possession throughout the first half but struggled to convert their dominance into further goals. After the break, they regained the lead in the 62nd minute as Warren Zaïre-Emery finished off a move set up by Désiré Doué, putting the home side back in front at 2-1.

Despite PSG’s control and attacking pressure, Lorient remained a threat on the counterattack and made the most of their limited opportunities. In the 78th minute, Tosin Adarabioyo scored the equaliser, punishing another defensive lapse from the hosts.

The numbers highlighted PSG’s dominance, with 68% possession, 24 shots compared to Lorient’s five, and a higher expected goals tally. Still, inefficiency in front of goal and moments of defensive vulnerability cost them the win.

In the end, PSG were left disappointed after failing to secure all three points, while Lorient walked away with a valuable result after a disciplined and resilient performance.
