Galaxy Denied Late Win as Whitecaps Strike Back for 1-1 Draw

LA Galaxy were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw against Vancouver Whitecaps in an evenly contested MLS clash, conceding a late equaliser after taking the lead early in the second half.

After a quiet opening period that ended goalless, the hosts broke the deadlock shortly after the restart. Joseph Paintsil put Galaxy ahead in the 46th minute, finishing from close range after a well-timed assist by Lucas Sanabria.

The goal gave LA momentum, but Vancouver gradually grew into the match, applying pressure in search of an equaliser. Despite Galaxy’s efforts to control the game, the visitors found their breakthrough in the 81st minute, when Mathías Laborda scored following a setup from Sebastian Berhalter.

Both sides pushed for a winner in the closing stages, but neither could find the decisive goal, leaving the points shared at full time.

The result reflects a balanced contest, with Galaxy unable to hold onto their advantage, while the Whitecaps extended their strong run of form by securing a valuable away point.
