US Sassuolo Calcio seized a valuable 2–1 home win over Como 1907 in Serie A matchday 33, decided by a frantic spell just before half-time.
The hosts struck first on 42 minutes when Cristian Volpato finished clinically, capping a move set up by M’Bala Nzola. Only two minutes later the roles were reversed: Nzola doubled Sassuolo’s lead in the 44th minute, this time assisted by Armand Laurienté, putting the home side seemingly in full control.
Como hit back almost immediately in first-half stoppage time. In the 45+2 minute, Nico Paz pulled one back, converting after good work from Ivan Smolčić to make it 2–1 and drag the visitors back into the contest heading into the break.
The second half brought changes from Como as they searched for an equaliser, with a triple substitution at the interval and further attacking reinforcements just after the hour mark. Sassuolo responded with their own changes, withdrawing goalscorer Volpato on 64 minutes for Alieu Fadera and later replacing Nzola with Andrea Pinamonti to refresh the forward line.
The match was competitive throughout, reflected in a series of yellow cards. Como saw bookings for Jacobo Ramón and Álvaro Morata in the first half and Alberto Moreno late on, while Sassuolo’s Ismaël Koné, Volpato and Kristian Thorstvedt also went into the referee’s book after the break.
No further goals followed Paz’s strike, and Sassuolo held firm to secure the three points and a narrow victory. Detailed statistics beyond the recorded goals, bookings and substitutions were not available at the time of writing.
