Minnesota United FC claimed an impressive 2–1 away victory over Los Angeles Galaxy in MLS regular-season action on matchday 6, decided by a flurry of second-half goals at Dignity Health Sports Park.
After a goalless first half, the visitors broke the deadlock in the 51st minute. Anthony Markanich, already on a yellow card from the 44th minute, made his mark in attack by finishing a move created by Joaquín Pereyra, putting Minnesota 1–0 up.
The lead lasted just six minutes. In the 57th minute, Marco Reus struck for the Galaxy to level the match at 1–1, scoring without an assist credited in the official data. The goal marked a key early milestone in the German forward’s MLS stint.
Minnesota responded strongly and reclaimed the advantage in the 67th minute. Kelvin Yeboah converted after good work from Tomás Chancalay, restoring the Loons’ lead at 2–1. That goal ultimately proved decisive.
The second half also brought a series of substitutions as both coaches sought control. Minnesota introduced Devin Padelford, Carlos Harvey, Bongokuhle Hlongwane, Kieran Chandler and late substitute Mamadou Dieng, while Galaxy turned to Erik Thommy, John Nelson, Miki Yamane, Harbor Miller and veteran defender Maya Yoshida.
Discipline played a part in a physical contest. Minnesota saw yellow cards for Markanich and Morris Duggan, while the Galaxy’s Elijah Wynder and Carlos Garcés were booked. Kyle Duncan received a late caution for the visitors as tensions rose in stoppage time.
Despite Galaxy’s late changes and pressure, Minnesota held firm to secure three important points on the road. Detailed statistics such as possession, shots and full lineups were not available in the official match record at the time of writing.
