Internacional CF Miami twice came from behind to claim a 2–2 draw against Austin FC in MLS matchday 6, as Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez cancelled out goals from Guilherme Biro and Jayden Nelson.
Austin made a blistering start, taking the lead in the 6th minute. Guilherme Biro struck for the visitors after being teed up by Facundo Torres Pérez, finishing off an early move to make it 1–0.
The advantage lasted only four minutes. In the 10th minute, Lionel Messi produced the equaliser for Internacional CF Miami, bringing the hosts quickly back on level terms at 1–1.
Both sides traded periods of control for the remainder of the first half, with Miami defender Maximiliano Falcón picking up a yellow card on 43 minutes as the match grew more competitive in midfield.
A halftime change proved decisive for Austin. Jayden Nelson came on for Torres at the break and restored the visitors’ lead in the 53rd minute with a well-taken finish, putting Austin 2–1 up. Miami responded with a series of substitutions, including the introduction of Germán Berterame and later Suárez, as they pushed for another equaliser.
The hosts continued to battle, with Yannick Bright entering the fray on 58 minutes and later receiving a yellow card on the hour mark. Their persistence finally paid off in the 81st minute. Suárez, brought on in the 73rd minute, struck to make it 2–2, converting after good work from Berterame, who provided the assist.
Despite further changes from both benches, neither side could find a winner in the closing stages. The draw leaves Internacional CF Miami and Austin FC sharing the points in the early phase of the MLS regular season.
