Barcelona claimed a vital 2–1 away victory over Club Atlético de Madrid on matchday 30 of the Primera Division, overturning a first-half deficit and capitalising late against a home side reduced to 10 men.
Atlético struck first in the 39th minute. Giuliano Simeone finished off a move to put the hosts ahead, with Clément Lenglet credited for the assist as Diego Simeone’s team seized control before the break.
The lead, however, was short-lived. Just three minutes later, Marcus Rashford levelled the score for Barcelona, slotting home in the 42nd minute after being teed up by Dani Olmo to make it 1–1 before half-time.
The match then tilted decisively in Barcelona’s favour during a dramatic spell of first-half stoppage and early second-half action. Atlético midfielder Nicolás González, already booked in the 22nd minute, received a red card on 45 minutes, leaving the hosts to face the entire second half with 10 men. By that stage, yellow cards had also been shown to Nahuel Molina and Koke for Atlético, and to Fermín López for Barcelona.
Barcelona coach Hansi Flick and several players on both sides entered the referee’s book as tensions rose after the interval, while both coaches turned to their benches. Ronald Araújo was replaced by Marc Bernal before the break, and Ferrán Torres came on at half-time for Fermín López. Atlético responded with a reshuffle, withdrawing Koke at the restart and later introducing Alexander Sørloth and José Giménez as they sought to hold on.
The decisive moment arrived in the 87th minute. Substitute Robert Lewandowski, introduced for Rashford in the 79th minute, found the net to complete Barcelona’s comeback and secure all three points for the visitors.
The contest closed with further yellow cards for Atlético’s Taufik and coach Diego Simeone in the 90th minute, underlining a heated finale. Aside from the confirmed goals, bookings and substitutions, more detailed match statistics and events were not available at the time of writing.
