Fortuna Sittard were pegged back at the death as NAC Breda snatched a 1–1 draw on matchday 30 of the Eredivisie on Sunday, with substitute Mohamed Nassoh scoring a dramatic stoppage-time equaliser.
The hosts thought they had done enough to claim all three points after Fortuna Sittard forward Kristoffer Peterson opened the scoring in the 56th minute. Peterson, who had been booked as early as the third minute, finished off a move created by Neraysho Kasanwirjo, whose assist put Fortuna 1–0 ahead.
Earlier in the first half, the contest had already shown its competitive edge. Peterson’s early yellow card set the tone, and teammate Shawn Adewoye joined him in the book in the 23rd minute. Fortuna held firm despite NAC’s attempts to respond, with the visitors forced into an early change on 38 minutes as Lewis Holtby made way for Nassoh.
The game opened up after the interval. NAC head coach turned to his bench for attacking inspiration just after the hour, introducing Brahim Ghalidi and Amine Salama in the 65th minute. Fortuna responded with their own changes, bringing on Yassin Oukili, Mohammed Ihattaren and later Paul Gladon to try to protect and build on their lead.
NAC’s pressure finally told in added time. In the 90th minute plus two, Nassoh struck the leveller, finishing a chance created by Salama to make it 1–1 and stun the home side. The visitors had also seen André Ayew booked in the 73rd minute before he was substituted late on.
Both sides made further late substitutions as Fortuna attempted to shore things up and NAC chased the equaliser that ultimately arrived. No additional detailed match statistics, lineups or attendance figures were available at the time of writing.
The result leaves Fortuna Sittard ruing a missed opportunity in front of their own fans, while NAC Breda leave with a valuable point after a late show from their substitutes. Full match information can be found at Ballaxy’s match centre.
