Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has dismissed suggestions that Real Madrid perform better without Kylian Mbappé, offering strong backing for the French star ahead of the upcoming El Clásico.
Speaking before Sunday’s showdown, Flick rejected the idea that Madrid are more balanced in Mbappé’s absence, stressing the forward’s world-class quality and influence on the game.
“To say Real Madrid are better without Mbappé doesn’t make sense,” Flick said. “He’s one of the best players in the world.”
The German coach went further in his praise, highlighting Mbappé’s attacking threat and ability to change matches single-handedly. According to Flick, the 27-year-old remains one of the most dangerous forwards in world football, capable of scoring in any situation.

“He’s incredibly gifted and always a threat,” Flick added. “In front of goal, he’s among the very best. He can score from anywhere — inside or outside the box.”
Mbappé is expected to return to Madrid’s starting lineup for the Clásico, adding another dimension to an already high-stakes encounter.
Despite mixed team results against Barcelona since his arrival, Mbappé has maintained an impressive individual record in the fixture. He has scored multiple goals across recent meetings, underlining his ability to deliver on the biggest stage.
With both sides preparing for a crucial clash, Flick made it clear that Mbappé’s presence only increases the challenge for Barcelona — not the other way around.
