FC Dallas were forced to settle for a 1–1 draw against St. Louis City on MLS Matchday 7, as a strong start to the second half was undone by a measured response from the visitors.
After a scoreless opening period in which tensions rose but clear-cut chances are not fully documented, the contest sprang into life shortly after the restart. In the 48th minute, Louicius Don Deedson broke the deadlock for FC Dallas, finishing off a move created by Petar Musa to give the home side a 1–0 lead.
St. Louis City grew into the game and were rewarded on 61 minutes. Defender Timo Baumgartl found the equaliser, converting after good work from Daniel Edelman, whose assist brought the match back level at 1–1.
The first half had already seen signs of increasing intensity, highlighted by a 32nd-minute yellow card for St. Louis forward Sergio Córdova. FC Dallas picked up cautions of their own, with Osaze Urhoghide booked in the 39th minute and Christian Cappis following a minute later. Goalkeeper Michael Collodi was also shown yellow in the 58th minute as the home side attempted to protect their narrow lead.
Both coaches turned to their benches in search of a winner. FC Dallas introduced Kaick as early as the 35th minute for Ramiro, then made a triple change in the 67th minute, withdrawing goalscorer Don Deedson, Patrickson Delgado and Logan Farrington for Herman Johansson, Joaquín Valiente and Santiago Moreno. St. Louis responded with a series of late substitutions, including the introduction of Lukas MacNaughton and Cedric Teuchert on 76 minutes, followed by further changes in the final minutes.
Neither side could find a decisive breakthrough in the closing stages, leaving the points shared.
