SD Huesca salvaged a crucial point with a dramatic late equaliser in a 1–1 draw against RC Deportivo La Coruña on matchday 35 of the Segunda División on Sunday.
In a tight contest where detailed statistical data beyond goals, bookings and substitutions is unavailable, the breakthrough did not arrive until the 73rd minute. Deportivo struck first when Luismi Cruz finished a move to give the visitors a 1–0 lead, capitalising on good work from Giacomo Quagliata, who provided the assist.
Huesca responded by turning to their bench. Among several changes, Álvaro Carrillo replaced Toni Abad in the 65th minute, a decision that would prove decisive. Deportivo had already reshaped their attack earlier, making a triple substitution in the 57th minute that introduced Riki Rodríguez, Peke and Nsongo Tonfack.
The tension increased as the clock ran down. Huesca’s Javi Mier and Jesús Álvarez, along with Deportivo’s Quagliata and Dani Barcia, all went into the referee’s book over the course of the match, underlining the competitive edge of the encounter.
In the 90th minute, Carrillo delivered the key moment, scoring for Huesca to level the match at 1–1 and deny Deportivo all three points. The goal arrived just before the hosts were reduced to 10 men, as captain Jorge Pulido received a straight red card in the same minute, adding late drama to the afternoon.
Despite late attacking changes from both sides, including the introduction of Liberto Beltrán, Sergi Enrich, Alejandro Cantero and Charlie Patino, neither team could find a winner in stoppage time.
The draw leaves both clubs to reflect on missed opportunities but ensures Huesca take something from a game that appeared to be slipping away, while Deportivo will rue conceding so late after holding the advantage for much of the second half.
