St. Mirren FC secured a valuable 2–0 victory over Aberdeen FC in the Scottish Premiership on matchday 32, as goals from Jonah Ayunga and Alexandros Gogić settled the contest in Paisley.
The hosts took control shortly before half-time. In the 40th minute, Jonah Ayunga struck the opener for St. Mirren, giving them a 1–0 lead heading into the break. The forward’s impact was notable in a first half that also featured several bookings, with Ayunga himself shown a yellow card on 45 minutes. Aberdeen’s discipline wavered, as Kenan Bilalovic (27′), Liam Morrison (39′) and Marko Lazetic (45′) all picked up cautions before the interval.
Aberdeen reacted with a triple substitution at half-time, introducing Toyosi Olusanya, Kevin Nisbet and Stuart Armstrong in place of Bilalovic, Lazetic and Topi Keskinen. St. Mirren responded with changes of their own just before the hour, bringing on Scott Tanser and Dan N’Lundulu for Declan John and Killian Phillips.
The decisive second goal arrived in the 83rd minute. Alexandros Gogić doubled St. Mirren’s advantage, finishing after an assist from substitute Scott Tanser to make it 2–0 and effectively kill off Aberdeen’s hopes of a comeback.
Further substitutions followed, including Jayden Richardson replacing Ayunga for St. Mirren on 68 minutes, and Lyall Cameron and Dylan Lobban coming on for Aberdeen, but the scoreline remained unchanged as the home side saw out the win.
