Carlo Ancelotti has officially named the 26 players who will represent Brazil at the 2026 World Cup, finally ending months of speculation over Neymar’s place in the squad.
The announcement was made on Monday, May 18, during a CBF event at the Museum of Tomorrow in Rio de Janeiro. The biggest talking point was whether Neymar would be included, and Ancelotti has now confirmed that the Santos forward will be part of Brazil’s push for a sixth world title.
The squad can now only be changed in the event of an injury. Outfield players may be replaced up to one day before Brazil’s opening match, while injured goalkeepers can be replaced during the tournament.
Brazil’s World Cup schedule
Brazil’s preparations will begin with the official presentation of the squad and coaching staff on May 27 at Granja Comary in Teresópolis.
Ancelotti’s side will then play a farewell friendly against Panama at the Maracanã on May 31, giving Brazilian fans a final chance to see the team before the tournament.
Brazil will travel to the United States for one more warm-up match, facing Egypt on June 6.
Their World Cup campaign begins on June 13 against Morocco at 7 p.m. Brasília time. Brazil will then face Haiti on June 19 at 9:30 p.m., before closing Group C against Scotland on June 24 at 7 p.m.
Neymar joins star-studded attack
Neymar’s inclusion gives Brazil another major attacking option alongside Vinicius Junior, Raphinha, Gabriel Martinelli, Endrick, Matheus Cunha, Igor Thiago, Luiz Henrique and Rayan.
Ancelotti has also selected an experienced midfield featuring Bruno Guimarães, Casemiro, Fabinho, Lucas Paquetá and Danilo of Botafogo.
In defence, Brazil will rely on names such as Marquinhos, Gabriel Magalhães, Bremer, Danilo, Alex Sandro, Ibañez, Léo Pereira, Douglas Santos and Wesley.
The three goalkeepers chosen are Alisson, Ederson and Weverton.
Brazil will head into the tournament with a squad that mixes experience, youth and attacking firepower. With Neymar included and Ancelotti in charge, expectations will be high as the Seleção begin their latest attempt to end their long wait for a sixth World Cup crown.
