Lincoln doubled their advantage in first-half stoppage time in fortuitous fashion. Deep into added time at the end of the opening period (45+5), Leyton Orient defender Will Forrester put through his own net, sending the Imps into the break with a 2–0 lead.

Leyton Orient had earlier seen James Morris and Idris El Mizouni booked inside the first 17 minutes as the visitors struggled to settle. Lincoln’s Ben House and Tendayi Darikwa, plus Orient’s Jack Simpson and Azeem Abdulai, also went into the referee’s book in a competitive encounter.
