Lindsay Brace Fires Preston Past Sheffield United in Five-Goal Thriller
Preston North End held on for a 3–2 victory over Sheffield United in a lively Championship encounter on Matchday 45, with defender Liam Lindsay providing an unlikely brace to set the visitors on their way.
Preston made a rapid start, taking the lead after just five minutes. Liam Lindsay opened the scoring, finishing from a move created by Jordan Thompson to put the visitors 1–0 up. Lindsay doubled his tally on 20 minutes, this time converting after good work from Alfie Devine to give Preston an early 2–0 cushion.
The first half also saw Preston pick up bookings for Thompson and Andrija Vukčević, but Sheffield United were unable to turn that pressure into goals before the break. The Blades introduced Harrison Burrows at half-time and Danny Ings shortly after in an attempt to shift the momentum.

The hosts refused to fold, and Patrick Bamford struck in the 82nd minute, pulling it back to 3–2 after being set up by Callum O’Hare. In the same minute, Preston goalkeeper Daniel Iversen was booked as the tension rose in the closing stages.
Both managers turned to their benches late on, with multiple substitutions in the final 10 minutes as Preston looked to protect their lead and Sheffield United pushed for an equaliser. Despite home pressure, the visitors saw out the remaining time to claim all three points.
