Fermín López and Rashford Fire Barcelona to Controlled Win at Getafe

FC Barcelona collected an important three points with a 2–0 win over Getafe CF on Matchday 32 of the Primera Division, thanks to goals from Fermín López and Marcus Rashford.

The visitors broke the deadlock at the very end of the first half. In the 45th minute plus one, Fermín López finished off a move for Barcelona, converting after being set up by Pedri to send his side into the interval with a 1–0 lead.

Barcelona manager’s adjustments after the break proved decisive. At the 60-minute mark, the away side made a triple substitution, introducing Ronald Araújo, Marcus Rashford and Frenkie de Jong for Jules Koundé, Roony Bardagji and Pablo Gavira respectively.

Rashford quickly justified his introduction. In the 74th minute, the forward doubled Barcelona’s advantage, making it 2–0 after being assisted by Robert Lewandowski to give the Catalans a firmer grip on the contest.

Getafe, who had already reshuffled at half-time by bringing on Kiko Femenía and Luis Vázquez, continued to search for a response with further changes in the second half. Davinchi and Dakonam Djené made way for Alejandro Sancris and Abdelkabir Abqar in the 76th minute, followed by Abu Kamara replacing Mauro Arambarri on 81 minutes, but the hosts were unable to find a way past Barcelona.

The match featured four yellow cards: Jules Koundé (20′) and Pablo Gavira (39′) were booked for Barcelona before the break, while Dakonam Djené (63′) and Mario Martin (87′) went into the book for Getafe.

Barcelona later introduced Álex Balde for goalscorer Fermín López (82′) and Marc Casado for Pedri (88′) to see out the game and preserve the clean sheet.
