Instituto See Off Defensa y Justicia 2–0 in Liga Profesional Apertura
Instituto AC Córdoba claimed an important 2–0 victory over CSyD Defensa y Justicia on Matchday 13 of the Liga Profesional Apertura, with decisive goals in each half securing the points for the hosts.
The breakthrough came in the 25th minute. Instituto capitalised on their early pressure when Nicolás Guerra finished a move created by Jonathan Galván, whose assist set up the Chilean forward to make it 1–0. The goal allowed Instituto to manage the tempo for the remainder of the first half.
Defensa y Justicia reacted strongly at the interval, making three substitutions at the start of the second half as Luciano González, Darío Cáceres and Santiago Toloza came on in an attempt to change the momentum. Instituto responded with their own changes, including the withdrawal of goalscorer Guerra for Matias Fonseca in the 56th minute.
The match grew more combative after the hour mark. Galván picked up a yellow card for Instituto in the 65th minute, followed a minute later by a booking for Defensa’s Aaron Molinas. In stoppage time, Santiago Sosa was also cautioned for the visitors as they pushed forward in search of an equaliser.
Instituto put the result beyond doubt in the 83rd minute. Substitute Matías Tissera, who had entered the pitch five minutes earlier, struck to make it 2–0 after being set up by Gustavo Abregú. The late goal sealed a deserved win and underlined the impact of Instituto’s bench.
A final substitution for the hosts saw Abregú replaced by Juan Ignacio Méndez in the 90th minute as Instituto saw out the contest without major incident.
