Carrarese overpower Spezia in fiery Serie B clash marked by late red cards

Carrarese Calcio claimed a commanding 3–1 home win over Spezia Calcio on Serie B matchday 33, combining sharp attacking play with late defensive resolve in a match that descended into chaos in the closing stages.

The hosts struck first on 17 minutes. Nicolò Calabrese opened the scoring, finishing after being set up by Emanuele Zuelli to give Carrarese an early advantage. Just six minutes later, the lead was doubled when Mattia Finotto made it 2–0, converting from a Simone Zanon assist to cap a ruthless start from the home side.

Spezia, who had already seen Giovanni Bonfanti booked in the 16th minute and Aleš Matějů cautioned on the stroke of half-time, tried to reset after the interval. Their response came quickly: in the 49th minute Mattia Valoti pulled one back, finishing a move created by Gabriele Artistico to reduce the deficit to 2–1.

Carrarese restored their two-goal cushion in the 63rd minute. Fabio Abiuso struck for 3–1 after a pass from Luis Hasa, putting the hosts firmly back in control. Finotto later received a yellow card, and both coaches turned to their benches with a flurry of substitutions from the 70th minute onwards, including the introduction of Gianluca Lapadula for Spezia and Niccolò Belloni and Filippo Distefano for Carrarese.

The contest boiled over late on. Valoti was sent off in the 85th minute, before a dramatic finale brought three further red cards in stoppage time: Emanuele Adamo and Bonfanti were dismissed for Spezia, while Belloni saw red for Carrarese. Christian Comotto also picked up a yellow in the closing moments.
