Agalarov Brace Not Enough as Baltika Hit Back Late in RFPL Thriller

FK Dinamo Makhachkala and FK Baltika Kaliningrad shared the points in an entertaining 2–2 draw in the RFPL on 5 April 2026, as a Gamid Agalarov brace was cancelled out by a late response from the visitors.

Baltika struck first on 13 minutes. Brayan Gil finished off an early move for the Kaliningrad side, turning in a pass from Ilya Petrov to give the visitors a 1–0 lead and put Dinamo immediately under pressure.

Dinamo’s response came after the interval. In the 53rd minute, Temirkan Sundukov found Agalarov, who levelled the score at 1–1 and swung the momentum towards the hosts. Baltika introduced Ivan Belikov at half-time in place of Tenton Yenne, but the substitute later went into the referee’s book with a yellow card in the 58th minute.

The turnaround looked complete in the 72nd minute when Dinamo earned a penalty. Agalarov stepped up and converted from the spot, making it 2–1 and completing his brace as the home side seized control heading into the final stages.

Baltika, however, refused to fold. With nine minutes of normal time remaining, Sergey Varatynov struck an 81st-minute equaliser to make it 2–2 and rescue a valuable away point. The closing minutes saw a flurry of substitutions from both coaches, including the withdrawals of key attackers Gil and Agalarov, as each side tried to find a late winner but ultimately settled for the draw.

Beyond the goals, one booking and several substitutions, detailed match statistics and further events were not available in the official data. The result leaves both teams with mixed feelings on RFPL matchday 23: Dinamo will rue a lost lead at home, while Baltika can be satisfied with a spirited comeback on the road.
