Christian Pulisic is expected to return from injury in time for AC Milan’s penultimate Serie A match after making progress in training.
The United States international missed Milan’s recent defeat to Atalanta due to a lower back issue, adding to a difficult period that has also seen him endure the longest goal drought of his career.
However, he rejoined full team training on Wednesday and is now in contention to feature against Genoa this weekend.
Pulisic has not scored in the league since late December, going 17 matches without a goal, while also failing to find the net in his last eight appearances for the U.S. national team.
Milan’s loss to Atalanta has increased the pressure in the race for Champions League qualification. The Rossoneri currently sit fourth, level on points with Roma and only narrowly ahead of Como, leaving little margin for error in the final matches of the season.
Looking ahead, Pulisic is not expected to face any long-term issues, with his focus also on the upcoming international schedule. The United States will play friendlies against Senegal and Germany before beginning their World Cup campaign against Paraguay, followed by matches against Australia and Turkey.
