Barcelona Edge Closer to Title with Hard-Fought 2-1 Win Over Osasuna
Barcelona moved to the brink of the La Liga title with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Osasuna at El Sadar, overcoming late drama to secure three crucial points.
After a quiet first half with few clear chances, Barça took control after the break. Their dominance in possession (70%) and attacking play eventually paid off in the 81st minute when Robert Lewandowski opened the scoring, finishing from close range after being set up by Marcus Rashford.
Just seven minutes later, Ferran Torres doubled the lead, converting Fermín’s assist to seemingly put the result beyond doubt at 2-0. Barcelona’s superiority was reflected in the stats, with 13 shots, higher expected goals (1.29 vs 0.80), and more touches in the opposition box.
However, Osasuna refused to give up and pulled one back in stoppage time through Raúl García, assisted by Bretones, setting up a tense finish. The hosts had created four big chances overall but struggled for consistency against a well-organised Barcelona side.
Despite late pressure and added-time drama, Barça held on to claim the win, continuing their strong run at a decisive stage of the season.
