The officiating team for the Champions League final between Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain has been confirmed, with German referee Daniel Siebert set to take charge of the showpiece in Budapest.
Mikel Arteta’s side will face the defending champions on May 30 in what is only Arsenal’s second appearance in a Champions League final. The Gunners are aiming to win the competition for the first time in their history.
Siebert will be assisted by Jan Seidel and Rafael Foltyn, while Sandro Schärer will act as the fourth official. VAR duties will be handled by Bastian Dankert and Robert Schröder.
The appointment brings a sense of familiarity for Arsenal, as Siebert has previously officiated several of their matches, including two during this season’s European campaign. Most notably, he was in charge of their semi-final second-leg victory over Atlético Madrid, a match that ended 1-0 but featured a controversial moment when Atlético were denied a penalty.
He also oversaw Arsenal’s quarter-final first-leg win against Sporting, a game that passed without major incident. Overall, Arsenal have enjoyed a perfect record in matches officiated by Siebert, winning all four.
Paris Saint-Germain have also had positive results under the German referee, remaining unbeaten in their previous encounters with him in charge.
With both teams familiar with the official and a major title at stake, attention will now turn to the action on the pitch as Arsenal and PSG prepare for one of the biggest matches in European football.
