Late McLean Penalty Earns Norwich a Point Against Swansea

Kenny McLean struck an 83rd-minute equaliser from the penalty spot to secure a 1–1 draw for Norwich City FC against Swansea City AFC in a tense Championship clash on matchday 45.

Both sides went into the closing weekends of the regular season looking to build momentum, and the game in Norwich turned on two second-half penalties. After a tight first period, Swansea broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute when Zan Vipotnik converted from the spot to give the visitors a 1–0 lead.

Norwich were forced to chase the game, turning to their bench just after the hour mark. Ali Ahmed replaced Anis Ben Slimane in the 62nd minute, followed by further attacking changes as Jacob Wright and Mathias Kvistgaarden came on for Edmond-Paris Maghoma and Mohamed Toure late on. Swansea also refreshed their side, withdrawing goalscorer Vipotnik and Joel Ward on the hour, with Adam Idah and Josh Key introduced to help protect the advantage.

The hosts eventually found a route back. With seven minutes of normal time remaining, Norwich were awarded a penalty of their own, and McLean held his nerve to level the score at 1–1.

The match was competitive throughout, reflected in a flurry of yellow cards. Swansea saw Marko Stamenic and Ji-sung Eom booked before the break, with Josh Tymon, Melker Widell and goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux also cautioned in the second half. Norwich collected bookings for Pelle Mattsson, Kellen Fisher and substitute Ahmed.

Amankwah Forson was introduced for Liam Gibbs in the 90th minute as Norwich sought a late winner, but neither side could find a decisive goal in the closing stages.
