Magnino Strike Earns 10-Man Empoli a Point Against Virtus Entella

Empoli FC recovered from an early setback and a second-half dismissal to secure a 1–1 home draw against ACD Virtus Entella on Serie B matchday 35.

The visitors struck first on 13 minutes. Bernat Guiu finished off a well-worked move for Virtus Entella, converting after an assist from Francesco Mezzoni to make it 1–0 to the away side.

Empoli’s frustrations grew when Gabriele Guarino received a yellow card in the 20th minute, but the hosts regrouped after the interval. A half-time change saw Marco Nasti replace Daniel Fila, and Empoli drew level shortly after the restart. In the 50th minute, Luca Magnino found the net, with Stiven Shpendi providing the assist to restore parity at 1–1.

The match took a dramatic turn in the 64th minute as Empoli were reduced to 10 men: Fabio Caserta was shown a red card. In the same spell of play, Virtus Entella’s Stefano Di Mario picked up a yellow card, highlighting the growing tension.

Both coaches turned to their benches in search of a winner. Empoli introduced Antonio Candela, Joseph Ceesay, Andrea Ghion and later Flavio Bianchi, while Virtus Entella brought on Mattia Alborghetti, Marco Dalla Vecchia, Alessandro De Benedetti, Mattia Tirelli and, in the final minute, Riccardo Turicchia. Mezzoni, already influential with his assist, was withdrawn on 74 minutes, while Guiu made way on 80 minutes after his opening goal.

Virtus Entella’s Ivan Marconi picked up a late yellow card on 90 minutes before being substituted, as the visitors pressed but failed to break down Empoli’s resilient 10-man side.
