Rabiot Strike Keeps Milan’s Serie A Push on Track at Verona
Adrien Rabiot’s first-half winner was enough for AC Milan to edge past Hellas Verona FC 1–0 on Serie A matchday 33, keeping the Rossoneri’s campaign on course in the closing stretch of the season.
The decisive moment arrived in the 41st minute. Rabiot struck for the visitors to break the deadlock, finishing off a move created by Rafael Leão. The French midfielder’s goal gave Milan a narrow lead that they would protect for the remainder of the match. The strike also ensured Milan made their dominance in the key moment of the first half count, with Verona unable to find a response.
Hellas Verona’s afternoon became more complicated by disciplinary issues. Jean-Daniel Akpa-Akpro picked up a yellow card in the 24th minute, and was later substituted on 64 minutes for Ali Al Musrati. The replacement midfielder was also booked, receiving a yellow card in the 84th minute as Verona pushed to get back into the game.
Verona made an early change at the back, with Daniel Oyegoke departing in the 21st minute for Pol Mikel Lirola. At half-time, Domagoj Bradarić was replaced by Ioan Vermeșan, signalling the home side’s attempt to adjust their shape and chase an equaliser. Later, Antoine Bernede made way for Isaac Aguiar in the 82nd minute, and Roberto Gagliardini was substituted by Sandi Lovric in the 83rd minute.
Milan refreshed their attacking options in the second half. Just after the hour mark, Leão was replaced by Santiago Giménez, while Zachary Athekame made way for Alexis Saelemaekers. In midfield, Youssouf Fofana was substituted by Samuele Ricci on 64 minutes. Christian Pulisic later left the field in the 80th minute, with Christopher Nkunku coming on.
Milan saw out the final stages to secure all three points, while Verona were left frustrated after failing to convert their late pressure into a goal. Detailed statistics beyond goals, cards, and substitutions were not available at the time of writing.
