Mikautadze Brace Leads Villarreal Rout of Levante in Six-Goal Show

Villarreal CF produced a dominant second-half display to overpower Levante UD 5–1 in a Primera Division clash on matchday 34, with Georges Mikautadze scoring twice and Nicolas Pépé heavily involved off the bench.

After a measured opening, Villarreal made the breakthrough in the 38th minute. Georges Mikautadze put the hosts 1–0 up, giving them a deserved lead before the interval. Both sides saw tempers flare just before half-time, as Kervin Arriaga for Levante and Dani Parejo for Villarreal were booked on 45 minutes.

Levante briefly dragged themselves back into the contest early in the second half. In the 51st minute, Carlos Espí levelled the score at 1–1, finishing a move created by Pablo Martínez’s assist. Any hopes of an away comeback, however, were swiftly dismantled.

Villarreal restored their advantage in the 62nd minute when Alberto Moleiro struck to make it 2–1, converting after good work from Santi Comesaña. Six minutes later, Mikautadze completed his brace. The forward extended the lead to 3–1 on 68 minutes, this time finishing from a Nicolas Pépé assist just moments after Levante had made a double change.

The hosts continued to press and were rewarded again late on. Substitute Tajon Buchanan added a fourth goal in the 87th minute, once more set up by Pépé. Just three minutes later, Pépé got on the scoresheet himself, scoring Villarreal’s fifth in the 90th minute after being picked out by Sergi Cardona.

Villarreal also saw yellow cards for Renato Veiga (55′) and substitute Thomas Partey (88′) as they managed the closing stages. Levante used all five substitutions in an attempt to stem the tide, but the home side’s attacking quality proved decisive.
