Mantova edge Monza in five-goal Serie B thriller with stoppage-time winner

Mantova 1911 SSD claimed a dramatic 3–2 home victory over AC Monza on Serie B matchday 37, clinching all three points with a stoppage-time winner after nearly letting a two-goal lead slip away.

The hosts struck first in the 23rd minute when Rachid Kouda opened the scoring, finishing a move created by Simone Trimboli. Mantova doubled their advantage on 35 minutes, as Leonardo Mancuso made it 2–0 with an assist from Tommaso Marras, putting the home side firmly in control before the break.

Monza’s frustration showed early, with Andrea Petagna booked in the 28th minute, while Mantova’s Ali Dembele had already seen yellow on 11 minutes. Both coaches turned to their benches heavily in the second half, with Monza making a triple substitution on 56 minutes and introducing Dany Mota Carvalho on 65 minutes to spark a response.

The visitors finally found a way back into the match in the 78th minute when Lorenzo Lucchesi pulled one back to reduce the deficit to 2–1. Monza’s pressure paid off again in the 88th minute as Mota Carvalho completed the comeback, converting after good work from substitute Hernani to level the score at 2–2.

However, the drama was not over. Deep into stoppage time, in the 90th minute plus five, Fahem Benaïssa‑Yahia restored Mantova’s lead with a decisive strike, once more set up by Trimboli, sealing a memorable 3–2 win for the home side just moments after Flavio Paoletti had received a yellow card.

Further disciplinary notes included bookings for Hernani and Stefano Cella in the second half. Beyond the goals, cards and substitutions, detailed match statistics, full lineups and additional events were not available at the time of writing.
