Oliver McBurnie delivered a decisive double as Hull City AFC overturned an early deficit to defeat Norwich City FC 2–1 on matchday 46 of the Championship season.
Norwich struck first on 26 minutes. Mohamed Toure finished off a move set up by Anis Ben Slimane, giving the visitors a 1–0 lead and briefly silencing the home crowd.
The advantage lasted just two minutes. Hull were awarded a penalty in the 28th minute, and McBurnie kept his composure from the spot to level the score at 1–1, shifting the momentum back in the hosts’ favour.
The contest remained finely balanced after the break, with both managers turning to their benches early in the second half. Norwich introduced Liam Gibbs and Edmond-Paris Maghoma at half-time, while Hull brought on Paddy McNair at the restart and later Kieran Dowell and Kyle Joseph just before the hour to refresh their attacking options.
The decisive moment arrived in the 67th minute. McBurnie found space again and, this time from open play, guided Hull into a 2–1 lead after being teed up by Matt Crooks. The goal completed the striker’s brace and ultimately proved to be the winner.
Norwich continued to chase an equaliser, making further changes including Sam Field and Mathias Kvistgaarden, but Hull held firm despite a late flurry. The closing stages grew increasingly tense, reflected in a series of yellow cards: Kellen Fisher was booked for Norwich in the first half, while Kyle Joseph, Crooks and Maghoma all saw yellow in the final 20 minutes.
Hull saw out the remaining minutes to secure all three points on the final day of the regular season. More detailed match statistics and events were not available beyond the recorded goals, bookings and substitutions.
