Azeez Brace Fires Millwall Past Oxford United on Final Championship Matchday

Femi Azeez delivered a decisive brace as Millwall FC wrapped up their 2025–26 Championship season with a 2–0 win over Oxford United FC on matchday 46.

The breakthrough arrived in the 34th minute. Azeez finished clinically after being set up by Mihailo Ivanovic, giving the hosts a 1–0 lead and capping a strong first-half spell from Millwall. The goal shifted the momentum firmly in the home side’s favour as Oxford tried to find a foothold in the game.

Any hopes of an Oxford response after the interval were quickly checked. Just three minutes into the second half, in the 48th minute, Azeez struck again, this time without an assist, to double Millwall’s advantage at 2–0. The second goal gave Millwall a comfortable cushion and ultimately proved enough to seal the points.

Millwall’s only booking of the contest came in the 39th minute, when Thierno Ballo was shown a yellow card. The midfielder was later withdrawn in the 62nd minute, with Luke Cundle introduced as the hosts adjusted their shape to protect the lead.

Oxford United made an early change in the 16th minute as Cameron Brannagan replaced Yunus Konak, and later launched a triple substitution on 59 minutes, bringing on Jin-woo Jeon, Mark Harris and Jamie McDonnell in search of a route back into the match. Millwall responded with a flurry of changes around the hour mark and into the closing stages, including the withdrawal of two-goal hero Azeez for William Smallbone in the 73rd minute.
