Late Viveros Double Fires CA Paranaense Past Vitória in Série A Clash

CA Paranaense produced a dramatic late turnaround to defeat EC Vitória 3–1 on matchday 13 of the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, with Kevin Viveros the hero thanks to a brace that bookended a tense encounter.

The visitors took the lead in the 22nd minute. Carlos Renê finished off a well-worked move for Vitória after being set up by Matheuzinho, putting the away side 1–0 up and briefly silencing the home crowd.

Paranaense responded just over 10 minutes later. In the 34th minute, Viveros converted from the penalty spot to level the score at 1–1, restoring belief for the hosts ahead of the interval.

A flurry of yellow cards underlined the competitive edge of the contest. Luiz Gustavo, Gastón Benavídez, Arthur Dias, goalkeeper Santos and coach Odair Hellmann all went into the book for Paranaense, while Edenilson, Leandro Martínez, Zé Vitor and Lucas Silva were cautioned for Vitória.

Both coaches turned to their benches in the second half. Vitória introduced Ronald at the break and later brought on Fabrício, Diego Tarzia, Marinho and Lucas Silva. Paranaense responded with Dudu, Bruno Zapelli, Chiqueti and Renan Peixoto as they chased a winner.

The breakthrough finally arrived deep into stoppage time. In the 90th minute plus two, Viveros struck again from open play to make it 2–1 to Paranaense. The hosts then put the result beyond doubt in the 90th minute plus eight, when Luiz Gustavo added a third, finishing a move created by Benavídez.

The victory secures three valuable points for CA Paranaense in the regular season phase, while Vitória are left to reflect on a missed opportunity after their early lead. Detailed data on lineups, possession and other statistics was not available at the time of writing.
