López Strike Earns Palmeiras Narrow Win at Bragantino
SE Palmeiras claimed a hard-fought 1–0 win away to RB Bragantino on matchday 13 of the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, thanks to a decisive first-half goal from José Manuel López.
The visitors moved in front in the 21st minute. López finished a well-constructed move after being picked out by Ramón Sosa, breaking the deadlock and ultimately providing the only goal of the game. The strike put Palmeiras 1–0 up, a lead they managed to protect for the remainder of the contest.
RB Bragantino struggled to find a response before the interval and saw Juninho Capixaba booked on 45 minutes in an increasingly competitive first half. After the break, the home side turned to their bench for a triple substitution on 61 minutes, introducing Vinicius Mendonça, José Herrera and Rodrigo Huendra in an attempt to change the momentum.
Palmeiras, meanwhile, managed the game by rotating key players. Goal-scorer López made way for Mauricio in the 58th minute, while Allan was replaced by Felipe Anderson at the same time. Felipe Anderson later found his name in the referee’s book with a yellow card on 64 minutes, and Agustin Giay was also cautioned for the visitors in the 78th minute.
Further Palmeiras substitutions in the closing stages saw Andreas Pereira replaced by Lucas Evangelista, with Jhon Arias and Sosa making way for Khellven and Emiliano Martínez respectively. Bragantino responded with late changes of their own, bringing on Gustavinho and Ignacio Sosa in the 88th minute, but the hosts were unable to break down a disciplined Palmeiras side.
Beyond the confirmed goal, bookings and substitutions, detailed minute-by-minute chances and statistical data are not available. Nonetheless, López’s early strike proved enough for Palmeiras to secure all three points away in Bragança Paulista, keeping their Série A campaign on track.
