Stalemate in Ceuta as Hosts and Racing Santander Share Goalless Draw

AD Ceuta FC and Real Racing Club de Santander fought to a 0-0 draw on matchday 37 of the Segunda División, with neither side able to find a breakthrough despite an intense, hard-fought encounter.

The match quickly took on a physical edge. Racing defender Salinas was booked as early as the 2nd minute, setting the tone for a contest that would see seven yellow cards in total. AD Ceuta’s Jamelli joined him in the referee’s notebook in the 19th minute, followed soon after by Racing’s Javier Castro on 22 minutes.

Racing head coach José Alberto López was also cautioned in the 40th minute, underlining the tension on the touchline as both benches battled for control in a tight game. Just after the restart, Aissa picked up another booking for Ceuta, while later cautions for Peio Canales and Marino Illescas ensured the referee remained busy.

With goals hard to come by, both managers turned to their benches in search of a spark. Ceuta made a triple attacking adjustment around the break and early in the second half, introducing Konrad de la Fuente, Youness and Aboubacar Bassinga for José Campaña, Anuar Tuhami and Jamelli. Later, Salvi replaced Kuki Zalazar to add fresh legs out wide.

Racing responded with their own changes. Pablo Ramon came on for Álvaro Mantilla on 66 minutes, before a double substitution in the 75th minute saw Damian Rodriguez and Asier Villalibre replace Maguette Gueye and Giorgi Guliashvili. In the closing stages, Suleiman Camara Sanneh entered for Peio Canales, while Ceuta swapped full-back José Matos for Redru Nimo.

Despite the tactical reshuffles and rising intensity, neither side could convert their efforts into a decisive chance, and the clash at Ceuta vs Racing Santander finished goalless. Detailed shot, possession and chance statistics were not available, but the card count and substitutions reflected a closely contested, finely balanced fixture.

The draw leaves both AD Ceuta FC and Real Racing Club de Santander to look ahead to the remaining rounds of the regular season, with valuable points still on the line in Spain’s second tier.
