Demirovic Rescues Stuttgart as Bremen Held to 1–1 Draw
VfB Stuttgart came from behind to earn a 1–1 draw against SV Werder Bremen on Bundesliga matchday 31, with Ermedin Demirovic scoring a second-half equaliser after Jens Stage had given the visitors an early lead.
Bremen struck first in the 18th minute. Jens Stage finished off a well-worked move, converting after a pass from Yukinari Sugawara to put the visitors 1–0 up. The goal shifted the early momentum towards Bremen and left Stuttgart chasing the game for the rest of the first half.
Stuttgart made a key adjustment at the break, introducing Ramon Hendriks for Dan-Axel Zagadou at half-time. More attacking changes followed in the 57th minute as Chris Führich and Ermedin Demirovic replaced Lorenz Assignon and Tiago Tomás, signalling a clear push for an equaliser.
The switch paid off just four minutes later. In the 61st minute, Demirovic found the net to level the score at 1–1, finishing a move created by Bilal El Khannouss, who claimed the assist. From there, Stuttgart continued to press, while Bremen sought stability with a double change on 65 minutes, bringing on Maximilian Wöber and Justin Njinmah for Niklas Stark and Jovan Milošević.
As the match entered its closing stages, both coaches turned to their benches again. Badredine Bouanani came on for Jamie Leweling in the 78th minute, before Bremen’s goalscorer Stage made way for Samuel Mbangula on 83 minutes. Late substitutions saw Chema Andrés replaced by Nikolas Nartey, and Romano Schmid by Salim Musah, both on 90 minutes.
The only booking recorded was a yellow card for Bremen goalkeeper Mio Backhaus in the 78th minute. Apart from the listed goals, substitutions and booking, detailed match events and statistics were not available.
The draw leaves both sides with shared points as the Bundesliga season moves into its decisive final rounds. For more on the German top flight, visit the Bundesliga page on Ballaxy, or check the full match overview at Stuttgart vs Bremen.
