Last-Gasp Omobamidele Winner Completes Strasbourg Comeback at Lorient
RC Strasbourg Alsace produced a stunning late turnaround to defeat FC Lorient 3–2 on matchday 31 of Ligue 1, with substitute Andrew Omobamidele delivering a decisive winner deep into stoppage time.
Lorient built what looked like a commanding advantage. In the 26th minute, Noah Cadiou opened the scoring for the hosts, finishing a move set up by Panos Katseris. Pablo Pagis then doubled the lead from the penalty spot nine minutes after half-time, converting in the 54th minute to put Lorient 2–0 up.
Strasbourg’s response began on 62 minutes when Sebastian Nanasi pulled one back, finishing after good work from Rafael Luís to make it 2–1 and shift the momentum towards the visitors.
The closing stages were chaotic. In the second minute of added time, Strasbourg drew level when Lorient defender Nathaniel Adjei turned the ball into his own net, credited as an own goal and recorded as Strasbourg’s equaliser at 90+2′.
The comeback was completed in the ninth minute of stoppage time. Omobamidele, brought on in the 65th minute for Ismaël Doukouré, found the winner at 90+9′, sealing a remarkable 3–2 turnaround and silencing the home crowd.
The match also featured several bookings, with Lucas Høgsberg, Gary O’Neil and Maximillian Oyedele cautioned for Strasbourg, while Katseris saw yellow for Lorient. Both coaches turned to their benches extensively, with late introductions such as Abdoul Ouattara, Martial Godo and Emanuel Emegha for Strasbourg, and Aiyegun Tosin, Sambou Soumano and Karim Dermane among those entering for Lorient.
Beyond the listed goals, cards and substitutions, detailed statistical data and further match events were not available in the official feed. The result nonetheless represents a major boost for Strasbourg’s league campaign and a painful collapse for Lorient after holding a 2–0 lead.
