Late Catena Winner Caps Dramatic Osasuna Turnaround Against Sevilla
CA Osasuna produced a late comeback to defeat Sevilla FC 2–1 in a dramatic Primera Division clash on Matchday 32, turning the game on its head in the final stages after falling behind to a Neal Maupay strike.
The visitors went in front in the 69th minute. Djibril Sow, already in the referee’s book from a first-half yellow card, provided the assist for Maupay, who made it 1–0 to Sevilla and momentarily silenced the home crowd.
Osasuna head coach turned to his bench just after the hour mark, with Raúl Moro and later Moi Gómez and Raúl introduced as the hosts chased a response. The changes paid off.
In the 80th minute, substitute Raúl levelled the contest, bringing Osasuna back into the game at 1–1. The forward was later booked in stoppage time, underlining the intensity of the closing phases as both teams pushed for a winner.
Sevilla responded with a flurry of substitutions of their own, including the withdrawal of Sow in the 71st minute and later goalscorer Maupay in the 87th, as Nemanja Gudelj, Peque and Akor Adams all entered the fray. However, it was Osasuna’s final roll of the dice that proved decisive.
Deep into stoppage time, in the 90+9th minute, defender Catena completed the comeback, finishing after an assist from Moi Gómez to make it 2–1 to Osasuna and spark celebrations among the home supporters.
The match also saw early and persistent discipline from the referee, with yellow cards shown to Sevilla’s Gabriel Suazo, and to Osasuna’s Ante Budimir and Raúl. No further detailed statistics, line-ups or referee information were available at the time of writing.
The result could prove significant for both clubs as the Primera Division season enters its final stretch, with Osasuna taking valuable points at home and Sevilla left to rue a lead surrendered late on.
