Late Emersonn Strike Completes Toulouse Comeback to Hold Monaco
Toulouse FC produced a stirring second-half fightback to earn a 2–2 draw against AS Monaco FC in Ligue 1 on matchday 31, with substitute Emersonn striking in the 90th minute to rescue a point for the hosts.
Monaco looked in total control early on. Jordan Teze opened the scoring in the 6th minute, finishing after good work from Simon Adingra, whose assist set the visitors on their way. The lead was doubled in the 18th minute when Lamine Camara found the net, with Maghnes Akliouche providing the assist as Monaco punished Toulouse’s sluggish start.
The first half was otherwise short on major incidents, though Toulouse defender Charlie Cresswell was booked on 31 minutes as frustration began to show for the home side.
The game swung after the break. In the 61st minute, Jacen Russell-Rowe pulled one back for Toulouse, converting from a Dayann Methalie assist to make it 2–1 and ignite the comeback hopes. Almost immediately after, Monaco reacted with a substitution, bringing on Aleksandr Golovin for Ansu Fati.
Both coaches turned to their benches as the tempo rose. Eric Dier entered for Akliouche on 75 minutes, while Toulouse introduced Emersonn for Russell-Rowe in the 74th minute and later Mário Sauer and Ilyas Azizi in a double change on 79 minutes. Monaco’s Lukáš Hrádecký and Toulouse’s Rasmus Nicolaisen and Sauer were among several players booked in a tense closing spell.
The decisive moment came in the 90th minute, when Emersonn struck to level the match at 2–2, capping Toulouse’s rally from two goals down. Further late substitutions followed, including Paul Pogba and Mika Biereth for Monaco and additional changes for Toulouse.
Beyond the goals, substitutions and bookings listed, detailed match statistics and events are not available. The draw leaves both sides to reflect on a point earned and two points dropped in the Ligue 1 regular season run-in. Full match information can be found on Ballaxy’s report here.
