Ten-man Darmstadt and Elversberg share six-goal thriller in 2. Bundesliga
SV Darmstadt 98 and SV 07 Elversberg delivered a gripping 3–3 draw on Matchday 31 of the 2. Bundesliga, with the hosts battling back despite being reduced to ten men just before half-time.
Darmstadt started at full throttle. In the 14th minute, Patric Pfeiffer opened the scoring, finishing after a setup from Hiroki Akiyama. Barely a minute later, Fraser Hornby doubled the lead with a clinical strike to put the hosts 2–0 up.
Elversberg refused to fold and mounted a swift response. In the 26th minute, Tom Zimmerschied pulled one back to make it 2–1. The visitors were level by the 34th minute when Maximilian Rohr, assisted by Lukas Petkov, struck for 2–2.
The first half turned completely on its head in stoppage time. Petkov completed Elversberg’s turnaround with a goal in the 45+2nd minute, giving the away side a 3–2 lead. Moments earlier, Darmstadt’s situation had worsened when goalscorer Pfeiffer was shown a straight red card in the 44th minute. Team-mate Raoul Petretta was booked a minute later as tensions rose.
Despite the numerical disadvantage, Darmstadt found a way back after the interval. On 51 minutes, Hornby struck again, this time assisted by Isac Lidberg, to level the match at 3–3.
The second half featured further discipline from both sides, with yellow cards for Marco Richter, Łukasz Poręba and Lukas Pinckert, plus a flurry of substitutions as each coach tried to tilt the balance. However, neither team could find a decisive breakthrough.
With the match ending 3–3, both clubs take a point from a frantic encounter that showcased attacking quality and resilience in adversity. Beyond goals, cards and substitutions, detailed play-by-play statistics and additional match events were not available at the time of writing.
