Morris and Ferreira Fire Seattle Past FC Dallas in Tight MLS Clash
Seattle Sounders FC claimed a 2–1 home victory over FC Dallas in MLS regular-season action on Matchday 10, building a decisive first-half lead and then holding off the visitors’ fightback.
The hosts struck first on 15 minutes through a combination that will raise eyebrows around the league. Jesús Ferreira put Seattle ahead, finishing a move assisted by Jordan Morris to make it 1–0. The goal gave the Sounders control and set the tone for an assertive opening spell.
Seattle doubled their advantage in the 30th minute, with Morris turning scorer. The forward converted after being picked out by Snyder Brunell, pushing the score to 2–0 and tightening the Sounders’ grip on the contest.
Dallas, however, responded before the break. In the 40th minute, Nolan Norris pulled one back, finishing a move created by Santiago Moreno to cut the deficit to 2–1 and restore belief for the visitors heading into halftime.
FC Dallas showed their competitive edge in the challenges as well, with Nicholas Simmonds (27’), Patrickson Delgado (45’), Lalas Abubakar (52’) and Norris himself (89’) all booked. Seattle’s Peter Kingston received the home side’s only yellow card in the 82nd minute.
The second half saw a flurry of substitutions as both coaches sought a tactical edge. Herman Johansson, Shaq Moore, Joaquín Valiente, Christian Cappis and Kaick all came on for Dallas, while Seattle introduced Kingston, Osaze De Rosario and Cody Baker, notably replacing Danny Musovski, Morris and Brunell.
Despite the changes, neither team could alter the scoreline after the interval. Seattle managed the game effectively to protect their narrow lead, while Dallas were unable to turn their pressure into a late equaliser.
