Luciano Strike Seals Late Win for São Paulo Against Mirassol
São Paulo FC edged past Mirassol FC 1–0 on matchday 13 of the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, thanks to a late winner from Luciano in the second half.
The match, played on 26 April 2026, remained tight and goalless for more than 70 minutes, with both sides cancelling each other out. Clear chances were at a premium in a contest that often unfolded in midfield battles and tactical adjustments.
The breakthrough finally arrived in the 76th minute. São Paulo forward Luciano found the net to put the hosts in front, finishing off a move created by Wendell, who was credited with the assist. The goal gave São Paulo the slender advantage they had been seeking and ultimately proved decisive.
Discipline played a visible role in the first half. São Paulo’s Danielzinho was booked in the 41st minute, while Mirassol saw two players cautioned just before the interval, with José Aldo and Nathan both receiving yellow cards on 45 minutes.
Both coaches turned to their benches to influence the game. Mirassol made early second-half changes on 65 minutes, bringing on Neto Moura for José Aldo and Denilson Alves for Shaylon. São Paulo responded with their own adjustments, introducing Lucca Marques for Cauly in the 66th minute and later sending on Luan for Damian Bobadilla in the 76th minute, shortly before protecting the lead by replacing match-winner Luciano with Matheus Doria in the 88th minute.
Mirassol pressed for an equaliser with further attacking substitutions, including the introductions of Everton, Tiquinho Soares and Edson Carioca in the closing stages, but they were unable to find a way past the São Paulo defence.
