Birmingham City secured a valuable 2–1 victory over Bristol City in the Championship on matchday 45, building an early two-goal lead before surviving a late scare at home.

Jhon Solis doubled the advantage just before the half-hour mark. The midfielder fired home in the 29th minute to put Birmingham 2–0 up, capping a dominant early spell for the home side. Solis’s afternoon brought mixed emotions, however, as he picked up a yellow card in the 14th minute before later being substituted on the hour, with Tomoki Iwata coming on in his place.

Bristol City reshuffled at half-time, introducing Rob Dickie for Cameron Pring, and made further attacking changes around the hour as Emil Riis Jakobsen and Adam Randell replaced Sam Bell and Sam Morsy. Their pressure eventually told in the closing stages.
