Miranchuk and Muyumba Fire Atlanta United Past Toronto FC
Atlanta United FC claimed an important away victory on MLS Matchday 10, defeating Toronto FC 2–1 after a decisive spell early in the second half.
Following a scoreless first half, the breakthrough arrived in the 48th minute. Aleksei Miranchuk put Atlanta ahead with a regular-time strike, giving the visitors a 1–0 lead and shifting the momentum firmly in their favour.
Atlanta doubled their advantage in the 67th minute. Tristan Muyumba finished off a move assisted by Fafà Picault, extending the lead to 2–0 and putting Toronto under serious pressure heading into the final stages.
Toronto FC responded quickly. Just four minutes later, in the 71st minute, Emilio Aristizábal pulled one back for the hosts, converting after good work from provider Kobe Franklin to make it 2–1 and set up a tense finale.
Both coaches turned to their benches throughout the match. Toronto were forced into an early change when Benjamín Kuščević was replaced by Lazar Stefanović in the 20th minute, and José Cifuentes made way for Derrick Etienne on the half-hour mark. A triple substitution in the 72nd minute saw Antone Bossenberry, Jules-Anthony Vilsaint and Malik Henry enter the fray as Toronto chased an equaliser.
Atlanta, meanwhile, introduced Emmanuel Latte Lath for Cayman Togashi in the 27th minute, with Picault coming on for Luke Brennan just before the hour and late changes bringing on Matías Galarza and Will Reilly in the 77th minute.
Atlanta’s defence held firm in the closing stages despite earlier bookings for Stian Gregersen in the 38th minute and Cooper Wyatt Sanchez in first-half stoppage time. Toronto pushed for a late leveler but were unable to find a second goal.
The win boosts Atlanta United’s position in the MLS regular season standings, while Toronto FC are left to regroup after a narrow home defeat. Detailed statistics beyond goals, bookings and substitutions were not available at the time of writing.
