Ten-Man Burgos Battle Back to Hold Deportivo in Segunda División Draw

Burgos CF showed resilience on matchday 37 of the Segunda División, coming from behind and playing more than an hour with ten men to earn a 1-1 draw at home against RC Deportivo La Coruña.

The visitors struck first in the 16th minute. Nsongo Tonfack finished off a move created by Luismi Cruz, whose assist set up the forward to put Deportivo 1-0 up and momentarily in control of the contest.

The game swung dramatically just before the interval. Burgos were reduced to ten men in the 30th minute when Mario González was shown a straight red card, leaving the hosts facing a long evening a man down. Deportivo looked to press their advantage and picked up bookings of their own, with Giacomo Quagliata cautioned in the 41st minute and Tonfack also booked on the stroke of half-time.

Despite their numerical disadvantage, Burgos found a way back. In the 42nd minute, Curro Sánchez held his nerve from the penalty spot, converting to level the score at 1-1. His goal ultimately proved decisive in securing a point for the home side.

The second half brought a flurry of substitutions from both benches as the teams searched for a winner. Burgos introduced Pablo Galdames, Kévin Appin, Victor Mollejo and later Marcelo Expósito, while Deportivo turned to experienced full-back Sergio Escudero and further changes including Zakaria Eddahchouri, Diego Villares, José Ángel and Miguel Loureiro.

Iván Morante and Miguel Atienza picked up yellow cards for Burgos early in the second half, while Dani Barcia was booked for Deportivo in the 79th minute as tensions remained high. However, neither side could find a decisive breakthrough before the final whistle.

The match finished 1-1, with Burgos taking a hard-earned point under difficult circumstances and Deportivo leaving frustrated after failing to make their early lead and numerical superiority count. More detailed statistical data and minute-by-minute match events beyond the recorded goals, cards and substitutions were not available at the time of writing.
