Fevrier Strikes as Charlton Edge Hull to Close Out Championship Campaign
Charlton Athletic secured a 2–1 victory over Hull City on Saturday, with Jayden Fevrier’s second-half strike proving decisive in a closely contested Championship clash on matchday 45.
The hosts took the lead on 20 minutes. Conor Coady picked out Charlie Kelman, who finished to make it 1–0 and give Charlton an early advantage. Hull were forced into an early reshuffle when Eliot Matazo left the field after just 11 minutes, replaced by Paddy McNair.
Hull found their response deep into first-half stoppage time. In the 45th minute plus seven, McNair turned provider, setting up John Egan to level the scores at 1–1 heading into the break.
The second half brought the winning moment for Charlton. In the 68th minute, Jayden Fevrier struck to restore the home side’s lead, putting Charlton 2–1 up with what would ultimately be the decisive goal. Hull responded with a series of substitutions, including the introductions of Regan Slater, Kyle Joseph and Lewis Koumas, but they were unable to find a second equaliser.
The match featured several bookings, with Sichenje Collins cautioned as early as the second minute for Charlton. Lewie Coyle saw yellow for Hull on 34 minutes, while Charlton goalkeeper Thomas Kamiński was booked around the interval. Nathan Jones also received a late yellow card for the hosts in the 90th minute.
Charlton made key changes of their own, including replacing Collins with Reece Burke in the first half and introducing Luke Chambers, Tyreece Campbell and later Lyndon Dykes as the game wore on.
Beyond the goals, substitutions and cards listed, detailed statistical data and further match events were not available at the time of writing.
